Homework Week4

Foreshortening 3x 45 Minute Drawings

These were my most challenging set of drawings as the angle at which the model was positioned made the scale of each body part more difficult to draw. It was hard trying to show where the body appears larger and where the body becomes more distant becoming smaller. Measuring the body became harder as certain parts are not completely visible and appear smaller by the way the model is sat,

Foreshortening 2x 45 Minute Drawings

Here I focused on mapping out the body first, working on scale and marking where the joints were located. From here I looked at the angle and positioning of each body part roughly connecting each piece. As I had a front view of the model these drawings were less challenging than my later ones.

Homework Week 3

Sunday 16 October 2016

Pencil Drawing 30 Minutes

This was my final drawing of the day and I feel it is my strongest. I am pleased with the scale and composition, the legs have improved, but could be worked into more.

Pencil Drawing 30 Minutes

I am pleased with the result of this drawing, the planning stages took longer as the positioning of the body was more challenging.

Pencil Drawing 30 Minutes

I really like the positioning of the model in this drawing, I struggled again with the legs, but feel there is improvement from my previous drawing.

Pencil Drawing 30 Minutes

I found it difficult drawing the legs because of the position of the model, I feel my composition and scale of this piece works well.

Pencil Drawing 30 Minutes

Using the heads method to work on scale and proportion was helpful, this is a new technique which I feel has improved my life drawing from last week.

Negative Space Homework Week 2

Sunday 9 October 2016

Charcoal Drawing 20 Minutes

This was my final drawing of the day, I feel that there was progression from my initial drawings. The proportions are better and I am more confident when using charcoal. I particularly like the boldness of this piece.

Left Handed Drawing 15 Minutes

It was harder to work on proportions with my left hand as the level of accuracy is not as strong. The lines have a much rougher finish.

Charcoal Drawing 15 Minutes

I find charcoal one of the hardest materials to use as the result of the line varies depending on how the tool is applied. I like the variety of line produced and the boldness achieved.

Half Blind Contour 15 Minutes

This is my favourite drawing I produced during the life drawing session. The lines are rough and wavy, but I think the effect of this works well.

Continuous Line 10 Minutes

I quite like the unusual look of this piece, keeping my pencil on the paper presented a challenge  when working across the different sections of the body.

Various Media Drawings 3x10 Minutes

I enjoyed experimenting with different media, I particularly like the effect of the charcoal. I like the tone and shade achieved using this material.

Blind Contour 10 Minutes

I find the human form difficult to draw even more so when not looking at the page. It was challenging trying to get the proportions in the correct position and link them together.

Self Portrait Homework Week 1

For my first attempt at a self portrait I am happy with the result, I need to work on certain facial features as I can see they are not accurate to my own.

20 Minute Drawing

As I had a longer time scale on this piece I feel I was able to achieve a more accurate looking piece.

Speed Drawings

Working with a small time frame was hard, but I found that I preferred my 2 minute rougher sketched drawing.

10 Minute Drawing

I feel the facial features are more accurate in this piece, but the proportion of certain areas could be improved.

Double Pen Contour

It was difficult using two pens as it was difficult trying to control them both at the same time.

Left Hand Drawing

I am pleased with the result of this piece, it was quite challenging using my opposite drawing hand as the level of accuracy is not as strong.

15 Minute Drawing

The proportion of the facial features are more accurate in this piece, having a longer time frame allowed me to achieve this.
