From my feedback I received from the group
I can see that overall my response to the brief was appropriate. My peers
explain that my composition is strong, but could be improved in certain pieces
such as my sketch of the O2 arena. My range of media used received positive
comments, but also suggest considering which media is most suitable to the mood
and theme of my chosen locations. Two pieces from brief two need to be
developed, I would introduce a new form of media or colour suited to the word I
am trying to communicate.
Looking at my work from Semester one I can
see progression, but also areas for development. I think my proportions are
good, but can continue to be improved using measuring skills learnt in the
initial stages. Certain areas of the body such as the hands, feet and face tended to be less detailed as I struggled with these areas. By producing close up sketches of these parts I aim to improve confidence for later life drawing sessions. In order to make my compositions more interesting I will use my
viewfinder to select the best area to focus on. I have found that when working
tonally charcoal was the most effective for me, this media is something I will
continue working with. From feedback from my peers it has been suggested that I use more colour, this is something I aim to do over the semester. This may be
used to represent tone showing shadows and highlights or as an alternative to
black. When planning my drawings I aim to produce a small thumbnail on my paper
in order to consider the composition of the piece.
